How The Art Therapy Process Works

Art Therapy Assessment

I provide a thorough assessment process; during this time, we can unpick what is happening and find the best way forward. This lasts between 3 and 6 sessions. If we commence therapy, sessions progress in 6-weekly blocks followed by a review. I am client-led, and we co-create the therapy intervention tailored to your specific needs.

Art Therapy Sessions

Therapy sessions are held weekly or fortnightly and last 50 minutes. They are conducted online. We work towards specific goals, explore themes as they arise through creativity and conversation, and review our progress every six weeks.

Theoretical Framework

I work with a trauma-informed and attachment-based perspective and use evidence-based therapeutic processes, including sensorimotor art psychotherapy, guided drawing for trauma healing, Emotional Freedom Technique, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, and therapeutic coaching.

Professional Bodies

I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, a full member of The British Association of Art Therapists, and an accredited Emotional Freedom Technique and Mindfulness Centre member. I have an Enhanced Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Only someone who has completed recognised training and is state-registered with the Health and Care Professions Council can call themselves an art psychotherapist. We are Allied Health Professionals, working to strict ethical and professional standards, and receive regular clinical supervision. I am fully trained to MA level, with training taking a minimum of six years full-time.
